Urgently Required National Research Assistant

The Centre for Health Service Management, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta has an immediate vacancy as National Research Assistant.

The responsibility is to provide reviewing the epidemiological and policy backgrounds in their own country; arranging and conducting interviews with a variety of stakeholders; management and analysis of the interview data; and writing a report identifying the key research issues, training needs, and policy recommendations for addressing the social determinants of health.

The candidate will be based in Yogyakarta within 7 months contract to work full time. As a researcher, a monthly payment of Rp 9 million will be provided.

Essential qualifications are :

  1. Citizen of the INTREC country where s/he will work
  2. PhD in relevant social science or health research discipline, or MA/MSc/MPH in relevant discipline with at least 3 years of field experience
  3. Understanding of the social determinants of health
  4. Good command of English (both written and oral)
  5. Strong analytical and writing skills for report writing
  6. Ability to synthesise large quantities of information into concise, digestible formats
  7. Ability to work independently
  8. Willingness to provide biweekly progress updates, and to communicate openly with manager about work-related issues
  9. Willingness and ability to travel in-country to conduct interviews
  10. Willingness and ability to travel and participate in INTREC training and writing workshops (February 2012 and mid-2012 respectively).
